School Partnerships & Outreach Opportunities
We want to partner with your school or community organization!
Second Star to the Right offers a wide range of educational and literacy-based programs and events tailored specifically to your school’s needs, population and grade levels. Let us take care of all the work! Our programs are designed to maximize fun and minimize stress!
Second Star partners with an extensive network of both local and national publishers to arrange author visits at your school. Our staff will oversee event coordination and manage the sale of the author’s book on-site. In order to guarantee book availability, we will provide students with a preorder form prior to the event date. Students will also have the amazing opportunity to ask the author questions in a Q&A session, as well as have their books signed by the author, assuming the time period permits. Many award-winning children’s authors are local to Denver or come through on book tour, and there is no better way to get kids excited about books than through a presentation with a live author!
Contact Second Star to select a date for your school’s benefit day and to choose whether you’d like to receive your support in cash (10% of your supporters’ sales) or store credit (20% of your supporters’ sales). On your benefit day, your supporters will mention your organization’s name, and 10/20% of their sale will go to your organization. Contact us for more details!
Teach your children about the importance of supporting local businesses, and enjoy a fun, interactive day of learning at Second Star. Students will participate in an interactive story time, which can be tailored to your lesson plan. In addition, they will receive a tour of the store, and have the chance to ask our booksellers questions about all things books! Approximate field trip length is one hour.
Pop-Up Book Fairs
Second Star can arrange a uniquely curated pop-up book fair experience tailored to your school. We will work with you to develop title lists appropriate for your students’ reading levels, budget and interests. The Second Star staff will oversee all event set-up and breakdown management in the space of your choosing. We also provide a pre-order form for the students to review prior to the fair to ensure title availability. Our staff has extensive experience in serving Denver’s diverse school network, and offers a uniquely local focus and can suggest best practices for a successful book fair experience. In addition, Second Star will donate 20 percent of the fair proceeds back to the school in store credit, providing even more literacy opportunities for students.
